Use the Course Approvals List to review Education Abroad courses and determine their CU equivalents, if any, for degree requirements.

Before You Search

Courses on the Course Approvals List have been reviewed by the appropriate CU academic department. The list shows how an education abroad course may apply toward CU degree requirements, including any direct CU course equivalent.

Important Things to Know

  • An approval applies only when the course number and title match the listing exactly. Courses that do not match should be submitted for review.
  • Some courses may be worth fewer than 3 credits and may not fulfill the listed approval.
  • A listed course may not be available during your term abroad.
  • Enrollment is not guaranteed. A course may be full, canceled, unavailable because of prerequisites, conflict with another course, or be affected by placement exam results.
  • Some programs publish their final course offerings shortly before the program begins.

Avoid Duplicate Credit

You cannot receive credit for a course abroad that is a direct equivalent, or exact match, of a CU course you have already taken. If the approval matches a course already completed on campus, you will not receive credit for taking that course abroad.

Before Choosing Your Courses

  • Compare the approved courses on this list with the courses offered during your intended term abroad.
  • When possible, identify twice as many approved courses as you expect to take.
  • Review your course plan with your academic advisor before departure.
  • Contact your academic advisor if your courses change after registration or arrival.
